Sheldon Gouthro, BBA
President & CEO
Sheldon has been with Maritime Paper for 34 years, serving as President and CEO since 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University and has completed the Marketing, Sales Management, and Executive Management Programs at Queen’s University.
With a wealth of experience across various roles, Sheldon is a strategic leader who understands the business's operational and managerial aspects. He is committed to maintaining an open-door policy, always ready to listen and offer guidance to employees and plant workers. His leadership is characterized by passion, pride, and purpose, and he instills this spirit throughout the company, inspiring everyone around him.
CFO & Vice-President Administration
Matthew joined Maritime Paper in 2015 as CFO & Vice-President of Administration, overseeing financial reporting, treasury, data analytics, information technology, and other key areas. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Mary’s University, a CPA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, and an MBA from the University of Calgary.
With extensive experience in accounting and management, Matthew previously served as CFO at The Vogue Optical Group, where he revamped financial reporting, prepared the company for sale, and managed post-transaction integration. He also held CFO roles at Master Packaging and senior financial positions at Gienow Windows and Doors, Bulkflow Technologies Inc., and in public accounting.
Matthew is dedicated, hardworking, and enjoys a good laugh. He lives with his wife and family in Fall River, Nova Scotia.

Ken Lawrence
Vice President, Operations
Ken Lawrence joined Maritime Paper in June 2022 as Vice President of Operations. With over 25 years of experience, Ken is a respected executive leader with extensive knowledge in general management, operations, and quality assurance across various industries. His passion for driving positive change and his ability to maintain team focus through clear expectations have greatly benefited our organization. Ken's transparent management style fosters collaboration and success, while his innovative solutions and leading-edge technology implementations set him apart. With a strong focus on customer satisfaction, relationship building, and quality products, he excels in process control, continuous improvement, and developing team members, all while upholding a high standard of accountability.
Ken holds several certificates, including Lean Manufacturing, Labour Relations, and Capacity Utilization. He also attended Saint Mary’s University, where he studied Commerce and completed a diploma in Management and a Master’s in Project Management.

Deanne Scott, BBA.
Director of Human Resources
Deanne Scott joined Maritime Paper in November 2022 and was promoted to Director, Human Resources in November 2023. Deanne is a seasoned human resources leader skilled at achieving excellence through talent acquisition, employee & labour relations, engagement, compensation & benefits and health & safety management. With over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, Deanne has worked across various industries including transportation, telecommunications and manufacturing.
Deanne is results focused, dedicated to fostering a positive and safe work environment and positioning human resources as a strategic business partner collaborating with all facets of the Company. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Mount St. Vincent University in Management along with extensive training in multiple Human Resources disciplines and operational human resources management.
SALES:
Rick Baker, B.Com
Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Rick Baker, a seasoned business leader with over 25 years of experience, joined Maritime Paper in June 2021. He has excelled in general management, operations, and sales, holding various senior leadership roles throughout his career. Rick has a proven track record of driving growth, increasing revenue, and managing teams effectively. His expertise spans creating and executing sales and marketing strategies, managing budgets, and optimizing operations.
Rick's experience includes working in small family-run enterprises and large national organizations, where he consistently identified growth opportunities and developed effective solutions. He is adept at managing regional teams, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and leading change management initiatives.
Rick holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University, a diploma from the Niagara Institute in Executive Leadership, and has completed Dale Carnegie training.
Geoff Morse
Director of Sales & Marketing
Geoff brings 30 years of experience with Maritime Paper, specializing in customer service, production planning, and export sales. In 2018, he was promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing after serving as Manager of Business Development and Client Services. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s University, a diploma from the Queen’s University Sales Management Program, and a diploma in Graphic Arts & Structural Design from Clemson University.
His holistic approach has enabled him to help cultivate client relationships and identify market opportunities. He has been described as a passionate and dedicated leader who prioritizes building meaningful connections within and outside Maritime Paper. He is driven by a commitment to delivering results, fostering collaborative relationships, and continuously evolving to meet the dynamic challenges of our industry.
